Is there an age limit?
You have to be 18 to skydive. (There are no
exceptions, even with parental consent.) There is no maximum age limit to
skydive.
Is there a weight limit?
Each student weighs in as part of the check in process. There is a $20
additional charge for students over 200 pounds, the maximum weight is 210
pounds. These weights include the clothing you’re going to jump in.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably, with the temperature in mind. Jeans or shorts are just fine.
Make sure you wear tennis/gym shoes (No Boots or Sandals). We’ll provide a
jumpsuit and everything else you need. Glasses are no problem, we have special
goggles that will fit over them.
How long will it take?
Tandem: It typically takes about an hour or so to
complete ground school, then two to four hours to make your jump. It depends
on the class size and a variety of other factors. Plan on being here half a day. We do everything we can so you
can jump quickly, but often weather or other factors will conspire to delay us.
Solo
Jump (AFF): The ground school is usually four to six hours. It will
take two to four hours after that to make your jump, depending on class size.
Plan on being here until sunset.
What about Weather?
Ground school will be held rain or shine. We do not cancel the training due to
weather. In most cases we can jump at least part of the day. Often the weather
here in Whitewright is very different than the weather in Dallas or Ft. Worth.
In the event that the weather won't cooperate, we will reschedule the jump.
At least
you have all of your training completed, and you're ready to GO!.
How high will we jump from?
We typically jump from 13,500', (over two and a half miles) the altitude depends
on a variety of factors including weather and ATC permissions.
You’ll spend about 60 seconds in freefall, then a peaceful three to five minute canopy ride.
Can I get my jump videotaped?
Yes, capture your experience of a lifetime with A Professionally Edited DVD
or VHS Tape and High Resolution Digital Still Photographs. These
services are available at an additional charge.
What will the skydive feel like?
Many people say that it feels like flying. It’s very intense, exciting, and
liberating! There is no falling sensation as with a roller coaster.
What is the landing like? Most landings are quite soft. Modern parachutes fly and land very much like a glider. You and your instructor work as a team to perform the landing.
Do I need Reservations?
Yes. We do all of our student skydives by appointment. This allows us to make
sure that there are enough instructors available. We ask for a $50
non-refundable deposit when you make your reservation. We do all of our
reservations by telephone. Call us at 1-800-SKYDIVE (from the DFW area) or (903) 364-5103.
What do I need to bring?
A valid drivers license or other government issued ID that verifies your age,
and a pair of tennis/gym shoes
Can family or friends come watch?
Yes, we have an observation deck where they can relax. There's even an
café if they get hungry while they wait.
Are there any physical requirements?
As with any sport, the better your physical condition, the easier it will be.
However, we have a highly experienced staff, and have taken people with many
different disabilities. If you have a special requirement, call us. We will do all
we can to make your dream of flight come true!
